In order to celebrate Chinese Dragon Boat Festival,we will have a three-day holiday from June 7 to June 9 2019.

It is one of the oldest traditional festival in China,people will have several activities to do in that day such as dragon boat race,eat Zongzi(sticky rice), drink real-gar wine to commemorate patriotic poet Qu Yuan.

Here is the historic story:Qu Yuan is the minister of state for Chu in the Spring and Autumn Period as well as he was very popular with the people.Because of the great contradiction with the imperial court aristocracy,he was exiled to other regions.After years he had known that his motherland was invaded,though he was exiled but still couldn’t bear to abandon his motherland.In 278 BC May 5^th of the lunar calendar,he threw into Miluo River after writing the last poetry Huaisha in his life.

The local people heard the news and went to the Miluo River immediately to rescue Qu Yuan after he invested himself.Unfortunately he wasn’t rescued in time.In order to mourn the grief,people swayed on the river with boats,and then gradually developed into a Dragon Boat Race.At that time,people were afraid that the fishes in the river would eat his body,and they would go home bring the Zongzi into the river to prevent fishes and shrimps from running the body of Qu Yuan.Later,it became the custom of eating Zongzi.
